Homes First Foundation funds are directed to the Homes First Society, which provides housing in 16 properties in Toronto to the people who are considered to be the hardest-to-house. In Homes First properties, tenants receive a variety of supports that make it possible for tenants to maintain housing and not find themselves back on the streets.
Funds raised by the Homes First Foundation elevate the work of the Society and amplify its impact in people’s lives. Gifts made to the Foundation make possible program innovation, service expansion, partnership development, and sustainable supports that save people’s lives, restore dignity, and revive potential.
The Society is entrusted with substantial government funds that help provide basic housing and safety. Gifts made to the Foundation make possible program innovation, service expansion, partnership development, and sustainable supports that save people’s lives, restore dignity, and revive potential.
Further, through events and communications, the Foundation is instrumental in giving profile to the needs of people who are homeless, and the dynamics that affect their lives and perpetuate homelessness.
The Homes First Foundation draws individuals, businesses, foundations and others into the cause of ending chronic homelessness, and provides a reliable, effective and accountable channel for their philanthropy.
The overarching strategy of the Foundation is to break down barriers and build connections between the public, and people who are creating their home within Homes First, to raise awareness, stir empathy, and generate financial support.
