This past week Patricia Mueller, Executive Director of Homes First Society, attended the 45th National Congress on Housing and Homelessness in Ottawa. Hosted by the Canadian Housing Renewal Association, the congress brings together individuals and organizations advocating for affordable housing in their communities.
Pictured is Patricia (far left) and her congress group with Senator Art Eggleton on Parliament Hill. As part of CHRA’s inaugural Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day, the group met with the former Toronto mayor on Tuesday to discuss key issues surrounding affordable housing in Canada. Eggleton is very familiar with our property Strachan House, which was in his ward, and he is a strong supporter of additional housing for the homeless.
“It was refreshing to meet someone on Parliament Hill who knew of our organization and Strachan House and wants to support social housing” says Patricia.
