Streets to Script: A Writing for Recovery Project
Streets to Script is a Homes First Community Development Project that began in 2015, funded by the Toronto Urban Health Fund. Following the success of a previous peer-led documentary that focused on the benefit of harm reduction, and a desire in our community for writing workshops, the Writing for Recovery project was launched. It combined peer-led writing workshops that allowed for creativity with an educational twist on harm reduction
The result was an anthology on topics like homelessness, mental health, forgiveness, family and recovery. Through these workshops, participants were able to learn more about harm reduction, and apply harm reduction strategies to help deal with personal, mental health and substance use issues.
