Honouring Delta – 5 Years of Healing, Hope & Art

After five meaningful years of providing shelter, support, and community, Delta marked its 5-year anniversary and final farewell with a celebration that honoured its legacy and the resilience of its residents. At the heart of this event was a powerful piece of art—a mural created by two residents, Patrick E. and Yana D., who transformed their lived experiences into a lasting symbol of strength, creativity, and connection.

The mural, which was later transformed into commemorative prizes distributed during the celebration, captured the spirit of Delta: a place where healing and hope found a home.

Creating the Mural  strongly made me  believe that by uniting we can demonstrate that homeless community members, with the right support can be self-sustaining, productive and act as role models for each other. The overall vision is/ was to make the world a better place through art and to demonstrate this success in creation of a practical Homes First and the  City of Toronto Mural. The message was we try to provide one-on-one support to the community who are having challenges with homelessness. – Patrick E.

My time at the Delta was a mix of healing and creativity. Being able to paint the mural felt like turning pain into colour a way to share hope with others going through tough times. This wall became a silent friend, holding stories, emotions, and strength. I’m grateful I had the chance to leave something meaningful behind

I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for everything you’ve done for us not only for organizing the celebration and making us feel seen and appreciated, but also for taking the time to speak with the marketing team about our mural.

Your support has meant a lot to both of us. It’s not every day that someone creates space for people like us to express ourselves, be heard, and be valued. The mural was more than just paint on a wall it was a moment of healing, growth, and connection.

Thank you again for your kindness, encouragement, and for believing in what we had to share. – Yana D.
