$2,000 will enable Homes First to provide over 520 meals to their most vulnerable clients.
I am training to race in the Ironman 70.3 Musselman on July 13th in New York – that means completing a 2km swim, 90 km bike, and a 21.2km (half marathon) run – and looking for your help to turn this personal pursuit into something bigger.
I broke into the sport in part because it was an ambitious challenge for me at a time when all I did was run and lift weights. I’ve poured my heart, soul, and a lot of money into both training and competing in the sport over the past few years – from equipment to nutrition. Through this experience, I’ve come to realize how very lucky I am to be able to do this – not just physically/mentally, but to have the financial freedom.
The contrast between the life I’m lucky to lead and the hardship faced by others in the streets of Toronto that I train on is impossible to ignore. Tents in parks in my neighborhood. Young people who, at first glance, look like they could be anyone we know—except they’re living on the edge, maybe just a few paychecks away from getting their life back on track. It’s heartbreaking. It’s frustrating. And often, it feels like a helpless situation.
But there is something we can do.
That’s why I’m dedicating this race to fundraising for Homes First, a Toronto-based organization that provides shelter, housing, and essential support services to people experiencing homelessness. They believe stable housing is a human right—and a necessary first step toward meaningful, lasting change.
Their Impact in 2024:
Make a donation today— and join the #SweatBet challenge!
If I don’t finish the race in under 5 hours (my personal goal), I’m asking those who opt in to donate again to double their impact.
To join the wager: include the comment #SweatBet with your donation.
If I do hit my goal, you can take pride in knowing your support helped push me across the finish line – and you won’t have to give another cent!
How likely am I to make it? For context, last year at the Maine 70.3 Ironman, I finished in a heartbreaking 5 hours and 2 minutes. So this year, I’m back with a vengeance.
Will the sweltering summer heat slow me down, or will solid training and pure determination carry me through?
Thank you for helping me turn this personal pursuit into something bigger. Let’s make sweat count!
