Launching Pilot Employment Readiness Program by Fitzrovia & Homes First

Homes First is proud to have launched our Pilot Employment Readiness Program in partnership with Fitzrovia, marking an exciting step forward in supporting residents on their path toward long-term stability and economic independence.

Over the course of three days, four clients from housing sites across the city spent time at Fitzrovia’s downtown headquarters, taking part in hands-on workshops designed to strengthen key employment skills. Participants received support in resume writing, headshots, interview preparation, career planning, and professional development, all guided by Fitzrovia’s knowledgeable and welcoming team.

An Inspiring Visit from CEO Adrian Rocca

A highlight of the program was a visit from Fitzrovia CEO Adrian Rocca, who spoke to participants about possibility, resilience, and the importance of simply taking the first step.

Rocca reflected on his own family’s journey immigrating to Canada and how those beginnings shaped the path to founding Fitzrovia in 2017—now one of the city’s most successful real estate and community-focused organizations. His message emphasized that “anything is possible when you start somewhere.”

Clients described his words as both encouraging and grounding, leaving them motivated and energized for their next steps.

Building Confidence and Seeing New Possibilities

For many participants, the program was not only about learning new skills, but about seeing opportunities beyond their housing sites and imagining a future filled with new possibilities.

One participant shared:

“I didn’t know this company existed. It was nice to see what’s out there.”

Another added:

“This was really helpful. I’m grateful.”

Clients also participated in interview preparation sessions with Fitzrovia’s exceptional HR team, receiving personalized feedback and practicing techniques to help them succeed in future interview rounds. These tailored sessions boosted confidence and gave participants a clearer understanding of what employers are looking for.

Following the program, clients will also receive one-on-one interview coaching for their next round of interviews, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.

Looking Ahead to 2026

This pilot program marks just the beginning. The overwhelmingly positive response from participants and Fitzrovia staff alike sets the stage for expanding and strengthening this initiative in 2026.
