Wales is one of our supportive housing sites; it is a three-storey brick home located in the heart of the Kensington neighbourhood, was built in 1870 was renovated in 1999. It is a semi‐detached building, and site elements include an ornamental covered entrance porch, a concrete stairwell, a large second floor deck, and a small third floor balcony. At one time, this building was a stately family home. The interior unit configuration consists of a self‐contained two- bedroom ground floor unit, a three bedroom “rooming house” on the 2nd floor and a self‐contained 3rd floor bachelor unit. This building houses individuals who have long histories of homelessness and mental health issues. Homes First has been operating a housing program here for over 30 years.
